Brand Settings

Brand Settings control your church's identity across the website: your site name, logo, colors, social media links, and how your site is referenced within GatherCMS. These settings apply site-wide and affect how your church appears to website visitors and on social media platforms.

General Settings

  • Site Name — the name of your church's website, used in the browser tab title, search engine results, and some theme locations. This is typically your church's name.
  • Tagline — a short phrase that describes your church or its mission. Used in SEO metadata and in some theme locations (such as a subtitle below the logo).
  • Footer Text — text displayed in your website's footer, typically a copyright notice or legal statement (for example, "© 2025 Grace Community Church. All rights reserved.").
  • Domain — the public URL of your website. This is important. This field is how your site is resolved in the larger GatherCMS system. Without this, people will be unable to visit your site.

Logo and Favicon

Logo — your church's primary logo displayed in the website header and in some social sharing previews. To update your logo:

  1. Navigate to WebCMS > Brand Settings.
  2. Click the logo field and select an image from the Media Library, or upload a new file.
  3. Save your changes.

Recommended formats: A high-resolution PNG with a transparent background. Minimum width: 400 pixels.

Favicon — the small icon displayed in the browser tab next to your site's title. This is typically a simplified version of your logo or your church's icon mark.

Recommended format: PNG at 64×64 pixels or 32×32 pixels, or an ICO file. Avoid using a full-size logo as a favicon — it will be too small to read.

Brand Colors

note

Brand Colors must be enabled for your church's account. If you do not see a Brand Colors section in Brand Settings, contact GatherCMS Support.

Brand Colors let you apply your church's color palette to your website. Changes here affect buttons, accents, and other color-dependent elements across your site.

  • Primary Color — your main brand color, used for prominent buttons and accents.
  • Secondary Color — a supporting brand color used for secondary elements.
  • Primary Button Color — the background color of your primary action buttons.
  • Secondary Button Color — the background color of secondary buttons.

Colors are set using a color picker. You can click the picker to choose visually, or type a hex code directly (for example, #3B82F6). If you need your exact brand colors, check with your designer or look in your brand guidelines — most design tools like Canva and Adobe Express display hex codes.

note

Brand Colors interact with your active theme. Each theme applies brand colors differently — some themes use them prominently, while others use them for subtle accents. If the results look unexpected, try a different theme or contact GatherCMS Support. See Theme Picker.

Add the handles for your church's social media profiles. These are used by your theme to display social media icon links, typically in the footer or header.

Available platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok, Threads

All fields are optional. You only need to enter your social media handle (your username) for each profile you want to display — for example, yourchurch, not https://facebook.com/yourchurch. We handle the full URLs for you. Leave fields blank for platforms your church is not active on.

Saving Brand Settings

After making changes, click Save. Most changes take effect on your website immediately. Some items — such as logo and color changes — may take a few minutes to reflect fully due to browser and server caching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the Site Name appear on my website?

The Site Name appears in the browser tab title (combined with the page title), in search engine result listings, and in some theme-specific locations such as the header or footer. It is also used in the auto-generated OpenGraph (social sharing) image. See SEO & Social Sharing.

What format should my logo be in?

SVG is the best format for logos because it stays sharp at any size. If SVG is not available, use a PNG with a transparent background at the highest resolution you have — at least 400 pixels wide. Avoid JPG for logos as it does not support transparency.

Can I change my website domain from Brand Settings?
warning

It is highly recommended to contact GatherCMS support before changing your website's domain.

Yes. By changing the domain in Brand Settings, you are telling the GatherCMS system that your domain has changed as we should begin serving your site from the new domain. When you click save, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to update your DNS settings for the new domain. Until you update your DNS settings, your site will remain in a limbo state where we are unable to serve it to website visitors. This is a limitation of how the internet functions, not GatherCMS.

Where do social media links appear on my website?

Social media icon links typically appear in the website footer and, depending on your theme, possibly in the header as well. The exact placement is determined by your active theme.
