Pages

Pages are the individual web pages that make up your church's website. Each page has a title, a URL, an optional banner section, and body content built from content blocks. Pages are where your church's core information lives — ministry descriptions, contact information, event details, and more.

Creating a New Page

  1. Navigate to Pages in WebCMS.
  2. Click New Page.
  3. Enter a Title — this is the page's display name on your website and in WebCMS.
  4. Review the auto-generated Slug and adjust if needed.
  5. Set the Status (leave as Draft to save without publishing).
  6. Click Save.

Page Fields Explained

  • Title — the name of the page as it appears in your website's navigation, browser tab, and search engine results.
  • Slug — the URL path for the page. For example, a slug of about-us creates the URL yourchurch.com/about-us. The slug is auto-generated from the title, but you can edit it. Use lowercase letters and hyphens only.
  • Status — controls whether the page is publicly visible. See statuses below.
  • Published At — an optional date and time for the page to automatically go live. If left blank, the page goes live when you manually click Publish. See Content Scheduling.
  • Unpublished At — an optional date and time for the page to automatically go offline. See Content Scheduling.
note

Changing a page's slug after it has been published will change its URL. Any existing links to the old URL — including links from other websites, social posts, or your own menu — will stop working. Menus are updated reflect the new page slugs automatically.

Page Statuses:

  • Draft — the page is saved but not visible to website visitors. Use this while building or editing a page.
  • Active — the page is published and publicly visible. If scheduling the page to publish later, use this status as well.
  • Expired — the page is hidden from the public website but kept in the system. Use this to retire a page you may want to restore later.

Adding a Static Banner

The static banner is the full-width image section at the top of a page, below the site header. It is optional — pages without a banner go straight to the content blocks below.

  • Headline — the main text displayed over the banner image.
  • Sub-Headline — optional supporting text displayed beneath the headline.
  • Image — select an image from the Media Library to use as the banner background.
  • Shadow Mode — when enabled, a dark overlay is applied to the image, making the headline text easier to read over light or busy images.

Managing Content Blocks on a Page

Content blocks make up the body of your page — the sections of text, images, and interactive elements that appear below the banner. Each block has a type that determines its layout and fields.

  • To add a block, click Add Content Block in the page editor and select a block type.
  • To reorder blocks, drag them using the handle on the left of each row.
  • To remove a block from the page, use the remove action on that row. This detaches the block from the page but does not delete the block itself.

See Content Blocks for a full guide to each block type and its fields.

Saving and Publishing

  • Save — saves your changes without changing the page's published status. A draft page stays a draft; a live page stays live.
  • Publish — saves changes and sets the status to Active, making the page publicly visible immediately.
  • Preview — opens a preview of the page in your browser so you can review it before publishing. Preview is available on both Draft and Active pages.
  • Unpublish — moves an Active page back to Draft, removing it from public view.

Special Page Types

Most pages are standard pages. However, a small number of page types — such as the Home page, Events, and Groups pages — have special roles and behaviors. See Special Page Types for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Draft and Expired?

Draft is for pages that are in progress — you plan to publish them. Expired is for pages you have taken offline and want to keep for reference or possible future use. Both statuses hide the page from the public website.

Can two pages have the same slug?

No. Each slug must be unique across your website. If you try to save a page with a slug already in use, you will receive a validation error. Add a word or number to make it unique.

If I remove a content block from a page, is it deleted?

No. Removing a block from a page detaches it from that page but does not delete the block. The block still exists in the Content Blocks list and can be added to other pages.

Can I preview a Draft page before publishing?

Yes. The Preview button is available on all pages regardless of status. Preview opens a view of the page as it would appear to visitors if it were live.

Can I have multiple pages with the same title?

Yes, titles do not need to be unique. However, each page must have a unique slug (URL path). It is a good practice to keep titles distinct to avoid confusion in the Staff Portal.
