Content Scheduling
WebCMS lets you schedule content to publish or unpublish automatically at a specific date and time. This is useful for seasonal campaigns, planned announcements, event promotions, and any content with a defined start or end date.
How Scheduling Works
Two fields control scheduling on pages and blog posts:
- Published At — the date and time when the content should become publicly visible. If this is set to a future time, the content will go live automatically at that moment.
- Unpublished At — the date and time when the content should stop being publicly visible. After this time, the content is automatically removed from your website and its status transitions to Expired.
You can set both fields together to define a window of visibility — for example, a Christmas campaign page that goes live on December 1 and comes down automatically on December 26.
Setting a Schedule on a Page
- Navigate to WebCMS > Pages and open the page you want to schedule.
- Set the Published At field to your desired publish date and time.
- Optionally, set the Unpublished At field for automatic removal.
- Ensure the page Status is set to Active. Pages that are not in the Active status will not be automatically published.
- Click Save.
The page will go live at the scheduled time without any further action from you.
Time Zone Considerations
Scheduled times are processed in the time zone configured for your church's account. Before scheduling important content, confirm with your administrator which time zone your system is set to. Scheduling a post for "9:00 AM" in the wrong time zone can result in it going live at an unexpected hour.
What Happens When a Schedule Fires
- When Published At arrives — the content becomes publicly visible on your website.
- When Unpublished At arrives — the content is removed from public view and its status changes to Expired.
These transitions happen automatically. You do not need to be logged in or take any action.
Checking Scheduled Content
To see which content is scheduled to publish or unpublish:
- In WebCMS > Pages, look for pages with a future Published At or Unpublished At date in the list.
- In WebCMS > Blog, the post list displays status information that indicates scheduled posts. :::
Filter or sort by status to find Draft pages with a scheduled Published At date.
Canceling or Changing a Schedule
To cancel a scheduled publish or unpublish, open the content item, clear the date from the Published At or Unpublished At field, and save. The schedule is removed and the content will remain in its current state.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be logged in when the scheduled time arrives?
No. Scheduling is handled automatically by the system. You can schedule content and log out — it will publish at the specified time without any action from you.
Can I change a scheduled publish time after setting it?
Yes. Open the content item, update the Published At or Unpublished At field to the new time, and save. The previous schedule is replaced.
What happens if the Published At and Unpublished At times are the same?
The content would publish and immediately unpublish. This is not a useful configuration and should be avoided. If you accidentally set the same time for both fields, clear one of them before saving.
Is scheduling available for content blocks?
No. Scheduling applies to pages and blog posts. Individual content blocks do not have their own scheduling fields — they are visible whenever the page they are attached to is live.
What happens to a page if its Unpublished At time passes while I am actively editing it?
The page will be taken offline as scheduled. Your editing session is not affected, but any saved changes to a now-Draft page will not be visible to visitors until the page is republished.
